The program of greens improvement continued today with the hollow coring of all the greens. This involves taking lots of long tubes from the surface thatch of the greens and filling with sand to improve drainage and growth. Big thanks to Malcolm, Jono, Les who volunteered to help Calum and Robert complete the first stage of this task on Monday in dry conditions. Next step is to fill the holes with sand. Disruption of play was kept to a minimum.
On Friday morning a hardy band of volunteers braved unsettled weather to walk the course with bucket and trowel in hand to fill the divots and rabbit scrapings. A great effort, thanks to all those who helped. Further course improvement is planned for the beginning of next week weather permitting. The greens will be cored and dressed as part of a continuous program of greens improvement which will cause minor disruption to play but in the long term will be of greatly improve the quality of the greens. In the meantime, thank you for your patience and understanding.
