On Sunday 18 golfers battled it out for the September Medal and it couldn’t have been any closer on the final scoreboard. Both Rob Nixon and Tony Harper finished with a nett 66 but on count back the winner was Tony Harper. Third place went to Stewart Taylor with 67 who continues his fine form this season.
This week both the gents and ladies were involved in mid-week Stableford competitions. The gents competition on Wednesday saw 10 golfers in action and it was a close finish with Ken Malcolm taking the honours with 40 points from Robin Pollock with 39 and Stewart Taylor with 38 coming in third. On Thursday in ladies Stableford it was Helen Lorimer who took the top spot with 39 points from Ruth Walker with 35 points and Aisne Imperiale was third with 34 points.
Sunday saw the first ever Tommy Loynes Memorial Trophy for gents and ladies. The winner of the gents section was Charlie Edward with 42 points from Ken Malcolm and Alan Boxx both with 40 points. The ladies section was won by the in-form Ruth Walker with a fine 43 points well clear of second place Ann Rae with 37 and Maureen Thomas with 28. Well played to all our golfers.
After the final round of the ladies eclectic for this season took place on Thursday the final standing are in and it’s a very close finish at the top with Shona Rankin just edging out Helen Lorimer. To see the final placings click ECLECTIC.
The Ron Macdonald Memorial Trophy was the prize on Sunday for the gents and ladies. It was a great day in the Walker house as both John and Ruth were victorious. On good scoring day 5 of the 11 gents scored below 70 it was a fine round of 66 from John Walker that just edged out Bob Pattillo on count back, with Mark Street third with 67. The ladies also had a close finish with Ruth Walker just taking the spoils by one shot with a round of 71 from Helen Lorimer (72) with Amanda Shepherd in third with 76.
Saturday saw the annual Captain’s Prizes take place and Aisne Imperiale topped a winning week with another victory taking the top spot in the individual competition with 37 points just ahead of Andy Fraser also with 37 and Scott Henderson with 36. The team competition saw Andy Fraser and Jock Clark take top spot with 72, Aisne Imperiale and Helen Lorimer came in second with 68 and Esther Stoddart and Maureen Thomas came third with 67. Well done to all who took part and thanks to Scott for organising the competition and prizes.
