Don’t forget the winter league starts next Sunday 10th October at 8.30am. The draw will be made on Sunday morning at the clubhouse.
After the frost delay the gents and ladies battled the windy conditions to win the October Medal. In the gents competition Charlie Edward was the victor with his round of 67 just one ahead of Jono Baldwin with 68 and Jock Clark was third with 71. The ladies champion was Esther Stoddart with 80 from Ruth Walker with 83 and Ann Rae was third with 84. Well done to all our golfers.
Just a reminder for those who want a meal at the end of season prize giving on Saturday 9th October to let the starter know your meal choice as soon as possible. Thank you.
The Joe Mennie Bogey Trophy was the prize and an unusual format was the challenge as 15 gents and 5 ladies competed against the course. After some confusion with the scoring it was Charlie Macdonald who won the gents from Jock Clark and Lewis MacBean. In the ladies Ann Rae took the win from Ruth Walker and Aisne Imperiale. Well done to all who took part and a special thank you to Ruth Walker and Colin Campbell who were our champions for an hour or so until the scoring confusion was corrected, both sportingly and graciously accepted the amended result.
On Sunday 18 golfers battled it out for the September Medal and it couldn’t have been any closer on the final scoreboard. Both Rob Nixon and Tony Harper finished with a nett 66 but on count back the winner was Tony Harper. Third place went to Stewart Taylor with 67 who continues his fine form this season.
This week both the gents and ladies were involved in mid-week Stableford competitions. The gents competition on Wednesday saw 10 golfers in action and it was a close finish with Ken Malcolm taking the honours with 40 points from Robin Pollock with 39 and Stewart Taylor with 38 coming in third. On Thursday in ladies Stableford it was Helen Lorimer who took the top spot with 39 points from Ruth Walker with 35 points and Aisne Imperiale was third with 34 points.
Sunday saw the first ever Tommy Loynes Memorial Trophy for gents and ladies. The winner of the gents section was Charlie Edward with 42 points from Ken Malcolm and Alan Boxx both with 40 points. The ladies section was won by the in-form Ruth Walker with a fine 43 points well clear of second place Ann Rae with 37 and Maureen Thomas with 28. Well played to all our golfers.
After the final round of the ladies eclectic for this season took place on Thursday the final standing are in and it’s a very close finish at the top with Shona Rankin just edging out Helen Lorimer. To see the final placings click ECLECTIC.
